Quick answers

The essentials.

Where is my data stored?

Your habits, tasks, planner items, journal entries, and workout records are stored on your device. They leave it only when you choose to export, share, or use the optional Google Drive backup.

How do I create a backup?

Open Settings in Total Journal. You can export a local backup, optionally protect it with a password, or connect Google Drive and choose Back Up Now.

How do I restore my information?

In Settings, choose the matching restore option for a local export or Google Drive backup. Restoring replaces the information currently in the app, so make a fresh backup first if you may need it.

I forgot my backup password. Can it be recovered?

No. Password-protected exports are encrypted, and Total Journal never receives or stores the password. Try another unencrypted export or a Google Drive backup if one is available.

Google Drive needs to be reconnected.

Open Settings, disconnect Google Drive, and connect it again. Make sure you use the Google account that contains the backup and that Total Journal is allowed to access files it creates.

How do I delete my data?

Delete items in the app or remove Total Journal to erase its on-device data. Disconnecting Google Drive removes the cached account email from the app. Delete any existing backup from your Google Drive separately.
